Library of Congress Begins Digitizing the East Florida Papers

Letter of Enrique White

The Library of Congress has begun the process of converting its 175-reel microfilm set of the colonial papers about Spanish East Florida into an online digital archive. When complete, the public will be able to browse more than 55,000 items documenting East Florida and its capital of St. Augustine for the years 1784-1821. An electronic index to the Papers, created by the University of Florida with a grant from the Historic St. Augustine Research Institute, will be linked to the new digital platform, providing a method of searching for documents.
