University of Manchester Promotes Study of Bourbon Era in Spanish History

Project Title

The P.K. Yonge Library is helping out in a research project about the early Bourbon Reforms and their impact on the Spanish Empire. Francisco A. Eissa-Barroso, Senior Lecturer in Latin American History (University of Manchester) had originally planned to conduct research in Seville, Spain, to build content for his website. When COVID-19 disrupted those plans, he asked us to scan portions of the correspondence of Florida governor Antonio de Benavides, one of the royal bureaucrats featured in his study. We were happy to draw on the microfilmed documents generously provided to us many years ago by the Archivo General de Indias!
